Beauty World Centre

Beauty World Centre is located at 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road. Today, Beauty World Centre stands a stone’s throw away from the former Beauty World Centre, which was destroyed in a fire in the late 70s.

Beauty World Centre holds its roots in two Hockchia businessmen, who after obtaining permission from the Japanese authorities during the Japanese occupation transformed Beauty World Centre, initially, a theme park into an actual market place during the British Colonial rule after the war.

The former Beauty World Centre consisted of open-air markets as well as coffee shops, provision stores and textile shops.  After the fire, nothing much has changed as Beauty World Centre still retains the old world charm of the 60s and 70s with a few new additions such as popular food outlet, McDonalds and a modern supermarket chain, Shop N Save.

Now, majority of stores occupied in Beauty World Centre are services such as Interior Design firms, Foot Reflexology Spa and Employment agencies. However, there is the occasional provision store and textile shop, left over from its former years. At the top floor, is an open-air food court , one of the only ones in Singapore.
